Security Association of Indias press conference held in Mumbai

Mumbai: Now you can be sure about the private security guards posted in your societies and business institutions. Now the background check of the personnel posted as private security guards will be done by one click on the computer. This has been said by Gurcharan Singh Chauhan, President of Security Association of India. He said this while quoting a speech given by the Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the Dr. Ambedkar International Center in Delhi while releasing a private security agency licensing portal. He was addressing a press conference held here at Mumbai Press Club. On this occasion the Association's President Gurcharan Singh Chauhan, Vice Chairman of the Association Dr. B. R. Kumar and S. V. Deshmukh was also present. It is known that the said portal was launched on 24 September. The Security Association of India had been demanding for years such a platform which is now complete.

He said that the Union Home Minister has expressed positive attitude on bringing private security guards under the ambit of schemes like Jan Dhan, Social Security Insurance and Atal Pension. Background checks of security guards were the biggest problem yet. Most of the formalities in background checks were being completed by the police. Police screening of guards is mandatory for all agencies recruiting private security guards. After the arrival of the new portal, their background check can be done easily.At present, more than 90 percent of the police stations have been connected online and the information about the cases and their accused can be obtained with a click on the computer. With the introduction of a robust background check system, people's trust in the security guards will increase. This portal will be available in all Indian languages within 90 days.He thanked Shah for referring to the private security guards as the first line of security, Amit Shah praised his contribution in providing security environment in the country. He stressed the need to create an environment of better coordination between the private security forces and the local police.

At present, a large number of retired security forces personnel are present in the country as a trained force for private security agencies. Agencies can also include cadets of NCC. Amit Shah also called for the need to bring security guards under the ambit of social security schemes initiated by the Prime Minister and asked private security agencies to work for this. He said that the Home Minister should come forward to promote this portal as much as possible by private security agencies.

Through this portal, the general public will also be able to find out whether the private agency providing security guards is licensed or not. The licensing process is also being made easier for private security agencies.
