Indian commandos stormed into Sikh's holiest gurudwara Golden Temple in Amritsar to flush out the terrorists and other anti-government elements. Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and over 325 people were killed in the temple. Thus a great rebel arose all over the nation and specially in Punjab.
2/6/1887	Manabendra Nath Roy (his childhood name was Narendranath Bhattacharya), leftist thinker, great Indian politician and philosophist, was born at Arbelia village of 24-Parganas of West Bengal. He was the founder of 'Radical Democratic Party' after quitting Congress during World War II.
3/18/1922	Mohandas K. Gandhi ""Mahatma,"" the great spirit, sentenced by British authorities to six years in prison for sedition at Sabarmati. Gandhi was sentenced just eight days after he was arrested. The British acted hastily after government officials in London and India were criticized for not arresting him sooner. In London, the Secretary of State for India was forced to resign because of the controversy over Gandhi. In India, the arrests of Gandhi and other Indian nationalists had only increased sympathy for their cause.
