Historical Event on 7/4/1897

Alluri Seetaram Raju, freedom fighter, was born in a Kshatriya clan in Andhra Pradesh. He is rememberred as one of the great sons of India in the annals of Indian history who fought valiantly for his motherland in the early period of the freedom movement.

6/9/1964Lal Bahadur Shastri became the second Prime Minister of India when the country was shocked of Jawaharlal Nehru's death and Indo-China war. Shastri gave the quotation ""Jai Jawan Jai Kisan"" which motivated the war-affected Indians to boost their morale. He remained in this office till he died on January 11, 1966 at Taskent. In his cabinet, Indira Gandhi served as Minister of Information and Broadcasting.

4/30/1870Dadasaheb Phalke alias Dhundiraj Gobind Phalke was born at Trymbakeshwar near Nasik, Maharashtra. He is remembered as the 'Father of Indian Cinema'. He produced India's first feature Film, 'Raja Harishchandra' and founded Phalke & Co. at Bombay. He was a director, producer, writer, editor & laboratorian, portrait photographer and also a scene-painter.
